Kooi van Woldringh - Observation point

The Kooi van Woldringh is a duck decoy more than a hundred years old in the Hagedoornveld, west of Nes on Ameland. This hidden spot tells a fine piece of island history.

What can you expect at the Kooi van Woldringh?
- A historic duck decoy: The decoy consists of a pond with six catching pipes. In the past, ducks were caught here for food.
- Carefully restored: The duck decoy was restored a few years ago and can once again be admired in its former glory.
- A resting place for birds: No birds are caught here anymore. The decoy is now a habitat for migratory birds and songbirds and is used for excursions.
- Among the sea buckthorn: The decoy lies in the Hagedoornveld, an open dune area full of sea buckthorn, between the Möchdijk and the Zwanewater Stuifdijk.
