Buurderduinen - Nature

The Buurderduinen lie north of the village of Buren, in the eastern part of Ameland. It is a quiet and varied dune area, ideal for anyone who wants to blow away the cobwebs between high dunes, long valleys and the wide beach.

What can you expect in the Buurderduinen?
- View from the Bureblinkert: This dune, about 16 metres high, is a fine viewpoint. You look out over the dunes, towards the Oerd, the Wadden Sea and, in clear weather, even the mainland.
- Dunes on the move: If you come here more often, you will see the dunes visibly change in shape and size. Wind and sand have free rein here.
- Peace and space: The Buurderduinen lie in a quieter part of the island, where you often walk wonderfully alone.
- Protected nature: The area is part of the Natura 2000 site Duinen Ameland.
