Arrival of Sinterklaas on Ameland 2026

Every year in November, Sinterklaas arrives on Ameland by boat. From the ferry terminal he travels to the centre of Nes, where the island's children welcome him. If you are on Ameland with children, this is a lovely moment to experience.

What can you expect at the arrival on Ameland?

• Arrival by boat: Sinterklaas arrives by ferry at the ferry terminal.
• Welcome in Nes: in the village centre he greets the children.
• Pieten: of course, Sinterklaas brings his helpers along.

Practical information

The arrival is organised by Dorpsbelang Nes and usually takes place on a Saturday in mid November; in 2025 it was on Saturday 15 November. The date and times for 2026 have not yet been announced, most likely it will be Saturday 14 November 2026. Check the event calendar of the municipality of Ameland for the exact date and time. Please note: on 5 December Ameland celebrates Sunneklaas, a festival just for the islanders themselves.
